Drabble a Day 2015
Day 003
Daily Goal: 100 Words
Today's Output: 147 Words
Series: Project Less Talk, More Robots
Characters: Glynn, 'Glen'
Content Warnings/Triggers/Mentions: discussion of transgender dysphoria

Author Notes:
One of the ideas I had while making LTMR for NaNoWriMo 2007 was for Glynn to have a parallel universe version of himself as a woman. Multiple versions of the same person, or parallels of the same person in different universes, are something that have always stuck with me from the anime I watched as a kid (even if, though I thought them to be the same person, they turned out to not actually be the same person in canon! Oops.) As I learned more about gender and sexuality, it started feeling more and more right for Glynn to be genderqueer or gender fluid, and so this drabble explores their interaction after they meet for the first time.

I am 100% open to critique of my work in this regard. While I identify as genderescent and non-binary, I can't say I am comfortable using the label trans for myself.

This drabble is a raw, rough, and unedited practice piece.

“Why do you get to be Glynn, but I have to be Glen?” she asked, marching behind him.

“So that people can tell us apart,” Glynn said, putting on his thick military jacket as he and ‘Glen’ walked along the corridor toward the command center.

"But my name is Glynn, too," she said.

“Well, Glen suits you better.” He grunted as he tugged the jacket's zipper up, the thing snagging every few centimetres.

“What makes you say that?” Glen asked.

“Because you’re--” Here Glynn stopped himself before the word could roll off his tongue.

“Because I’m what?” Glen frowned, her footsteps growing heavier. “A woman?”

Glynn bit his bottom lip and stole a glance at his bizarre doppelgänger. He looked her up and down, and he felt his chest twist in an equally bizarre manner.

“Because you already have everything else I wish I had,” Glynn said.
